But, we all did it and it was fun. Wasn't it? I do remember getting stage fright as a kid and my sister was left to stand there like a fool and mutter a pitiful "trick-or-treat" since I was too shy to do it myself.
We got our first trick-or-treaters at around 6pm after we took Molly to the nearest 3 houses to get her first experience with this weird but fun tradition. For a solid hour and a half, our door was besieged by ghosts, goblins, Batmen, Spidermen, bumblebees, hobos and Hanna Montanas. We ran out of candy by 7:30 and quickly turned out the lights before resorting to giving out Sonic Starlight mints. Then I got to thinking...they don't have Sonics here...just how old are those things?
By a respectable hour, the neighborhood went back to its normal calm and quiet. Remarkably, I never saw a single tossed pumpkin or egging. This is a perfect place, a perfect neighborhood and we love it here. Too bad it will all end soon. The great unknown is a little more scary than Halloween. Where will Molly go trick-or-treating next year? Time will tell.
So excited! Let's go.
It was shaping up to be the perfect evening for trick-or-treating.
We had our pumpkin carved, the seeds roasted, the hotdogs for dinner and a dessert of donuts, and what we thought was plenty of candy...this and a ton in a bag. Not so.
The neighborhood was bedecked in the spirit of Halloween.
Beauti-Fall colors right outside our window.
Molly going to her first house to beg for candy....she was a little scared.
Daddy helping her up the steps of our neighbor's house.
Be ready to say "Trick-or-Treat."
Our neighbor's son Kyle was dressed as a werewolf and chained up out front handing out candy to the kids. They also had a huge spider on the porch and a smoke machine and scary sounds. It was cool.
Going to the 3rd house....
...ring the bell and get ready...here they come.
Let's get back home before the trick-or-treaters start showing up. That was fun, right Molly? She wasn't so sure.
Poor pitiful child showing us her candy...one of a few she got at her 3 houses. Yeah, well, we ended up giving her candy away since we were running out. We are so terrible, aren't we?
So cute standing at our front door greeting the kids. She LOVES kids!
The next morning, wearing her Halloween outfit.
