Checking out neighborhoods

The other day, we decided to go for a walk in a nearby neighborhood. The street our rental home is on is just one L-shaped road which makes for a short walk. There's too much traffic on the cross-street to go to other areas with the wagon. So, we packed up the wagon and drove around the block to take Molly for another ride and to check out a house we are somewhat interested in.

What better way to get the feel of a neighborhood than to take your child for a wagon ride and meet the people walking their dogs or out for a stroll. You can listen for traffic noise as well as just see the various landscapes in all the well kept mature yards. Springtime is such a great time to explore a new town...it's wearing it's colorful finery and the air smells fresh and clean...to those of us not suffering from allergies at least. I love the smells of fresh cut grass, blossoms, new bark ground covers, and mossy creeks. The birds were chirping all around us and people were out enjoying the day gardening or sitting on their porches.



This particular home is at the end of a lush cul-de-sac, at the end of the road with a long driveway and sits on an acre, which in the city, is hard to come by these days. It has a country charm, warm colors of ochre, dark green and burgundy, a long porch in front and a screened porch in back, a fenced in saline pool to the side and a huge level yard all around amongst the large trees.


We are hoping that if this one lingers on the market for a few months, we could make a move. If the inside is as nice as the outside and it meets our needs, it would be a very strong contender on a short list of homes we are keeping track of. We do have a few months to go on our lease, but if we do find "the perfect home," we'll try to figure something out...if not, we'll just keep waiting and hoping that when we are ready, the market will have plenty to choose from.
