March First Snow

We got our first real snow on March 1st...just days before spring. Other than a few heavy frosts and foggy mornings, it's been a very mild winter here in Richmond, while all others around us have been pummeled by an arctic blast-filled winter. It was nice to watch the snow falling the night before and we even were able to catch what must have been "northern lights" or maybe an aurora-borealis type of light phenomenon.

Several times during the night, we caught flashes of bright greenish-blue lights and once, even a flash of dark blue. We stood at the front door to catch the light display. There was no sound like you get with lightening, just bursts of wavy flashes that were gone before we knew it. But we'd both exclaim at the same moment, "Wow! Did you SEE that?" Totally cool.
