Moving Day

Here are some photos of the couple days that our house was being packed up and loaded for the move from Richmond to Knoxville. If you have ever had someone else move you, it can be a very odd seeing these kind but rag-tag looking people packing up all your worldly possessions into neatly labeled boxes and then drive off down the street.

We were concerned when only two guys showed up. Back in Albuquerque, we had more than twice that move us and it took a long time to get it all loaded. These two were amazing and did a great job, working quietly, no fooling around and got it done fast and efficiently.

Molly was nervous seeing strangers walking all over the house, and it was challenging for us to find a safe spot to keep her entertained and out of danger. I spent a lot of time driving, weather permitting...so she could get a good nap away from all the crazy mess at the house. I spent several hours at Sonic and driving halfway to Tappahannock that first day.

It's hard to think that we will be doing this again in less than a year since we are just renting this current home as we get to know Knoxville and Dan gets to know his job. Do we really want to stay here? It remains to be seen, but we feel we can try to make Knoxville as much a home as possible. We hate moving though...the whole process is very stressful no matter how problem free it is. If we can handle this, we can handle just about anything in my opinion.

The moving truck arrived dark and early on a cold, icy morning...Feb. 5th.

Just two guys...Houston and Ruley, packed up our entire house from top to bottom in just one very long day, in one very long truck.

Molly was scared of these two strangers roaming through the house. Here I am trying to feed her like normal as the wall of boxes grew and grew.

The other side of the wall and a couple of curious kitties' tails...Ringo and Zip are checking things out.

The blue room...

...the yellow room...

...Molly's room...this one breaks my heart.

A rude awakening...before the movers came back to load up the truck. Molly slept with us that last night.

Our room was also in chaos like all the other rooms in the house.

Breakfast time and Molly was feeling sad, scared of the men there again.

The boxes were stacked to the ceiling in the dining room...nearest to the front door...ready to be loaded fast.

The kitchen, is Molly in there anywhere?

There she is scrunching up her nose for me again.

Looking into the living room...where is the TeeBee?

There they go around the corner with all our stuff. If we could have left right behind them, we would not have been trapped in Richmond for two more days due to the fast approaching snowstorm. They made it to Knoxville without any delays. We had lots of cleaning to do before leaving the house for the last time. We stayed at the nearby Hampton Inn for a couple nights while the snowstorm came in and finally went. What a fun time. Not really, but we tried to make the most of it.
