Yep, poor ol' Jimmy had a bad weekend. On our way back from Los Alamos the other night, we were driving along just fine when suddenly we lost all electrical power. We were going downhill at a pretty good pace when the power steering went out and the brakes were hard to press down. Dan held his composure all the way down to a perfectly positioned gas station which was on level ground. We drifted into a parking spot near the end and were grateful not to have had an accident. We then spent the next hour or two waiting for a tow truck...oh what fun. There was no cell phone service and only a grimy pay phone that devoured quarter after quarter only to cut off before the roadside assistance call could be completed. Dan then spent quite a while on the phone at the convenience store counter. Luckily, we had food and restrooms, so it wasn't too bad. Nothing quite like watching your car being towed to Espanola! Another lucky thing for us, we were not traveling alone, so we were able to ride with friends back to Albuquerque. What a night. Jimmy's better now, but it did take a bite out of our wallets, to the tune of just under $1000 for a fuel pump.
