Closing on house.

The date for us to close on the house has been moved up one day to December 20th. This is to accommodate the fact that the paperwork can't be processed on the 21st because of the weekend and the holiday and all that scheduling quagmire of red tape due to the time of the year.

But we get it done sooner and that should be a good thing. Sounds great, right? Hey, we can move into our house one day earlier, right? Well, kind of.

Oh, we'll have access to the house sooner, which will be nice. There is so much to consider when having the closing date moved up...will it work with the sellers schedule when they're already moving out early? - (with 2 small kids and he broke his ankle last week)...will we get our finances ready to go by this date?...will we be able to get our furniture moved by then?...will our "relocation assistance program" provide another helpful stumbling block for us to overcome again? Oh, I'm sure they will hit us with an impossible need or question. Just wait.

We did find out that the furniture will not be able to be moved from storage to the house until the 26th. Joy of joys! An empty house at Christmas time! We are going to stay in the hotel until this day but go to the house to clean and move a few things we've kept in the cars and closet here out of our way.

At least the house will be ours at last and we can wander through it at our hearts content, planning where to place things or what rooms to tackle first - (I say the little lavender nursery room upstairs!)

We found out a few days ago that the man who bought our house in Albuquerque wanted to close a bit earlier before the holidays I guess. This also is fine with us, but is making our mail delivery an issue - we need to get that changed (and held for a few days) until we get into our house. So many details to juggle! So, that house closing was yesterday - Happy Birthday, Dan. The deal is done and the money's on the way!

Yesterday, December 13th was Dan's birthday. The first half was spent calling utility companies and getting things switched to our name at the new house. This task always seems to take a long time to do. In the afternoon, we went shopping and then out to dinner at Red Lobster. We had a german chocolate cake purchased the day before for his birthday cake.

This was just after he blew out his "38" candles (3 in the middle with 8 around the edge), we nearly forgot a photo! I'm sure this is a birthday he will never forget.
