All these toys...

...and she still would rather play with her socks!

Here we are the other day playing in the living room. By day, our living room becomes overwhelmed with toys, blankies, and pillows. We can no longer put anything on the coffee table...no coasters, magazines, or heaven forbid...coffee!! No, no...all normal everyday items we grown-ups enjoy having close at hand in the living room will have to be packed away in a drawer for a few years.

No more coffee table photo books, glassware (with candy, no way), the remote controls are up high or somehow kept as out of her reach as possible. She has two toy remote controls which seem to satisfy her intense need to poke and push buttons...and bite and slobber on and so forth. That's o.k. Those are her toys, not ours. She can treat them however she wants to. One day we can look back and I can say..."Honey, see these teeth marks? You did that when you were a baby. You would chew on everything, even the furniture!"

Give her a new teething toy, you say? Oh, she has plenty of those and on rare occasions, she does chew on them to ease her teething pains, but nothing seems to beat chewing on the furniture, her clothes or my hair.

She is pulling up on things and is nearly able to stand. We had to lower her crib mattress today. It will be a matter of weeks until she starts to take those first teetering toddler steps. She does take an occasional tumble now and then. We try to watch her closely but not make too much of a fuss when she falls. Most of the time, she brushes off the "owies" herself and moves on to the next thing completely undaunted. She never stays upset for long. Good thing for us! She's a tough little girl already.
